COALITION OF MOBILEHOME OWNERS - CALIFORNIA

HISTORY

CoMO-CAL was born from a need.  A need to enforce of the Mobilehome Residency Law in our local areas. Many of us suffer mistreatment in our parks. Many are afraid, intimidated, harassed, and taken advantage of. Isn’t it time to organize to stop these immoral and illegal practices.

Mobile home owners here in Southern California had no support group and needed help. Our first meeting was held on October 2, 2004. This was a working meeting to form a new Coalition to help mobile home owners at the local level. Read our  Welcome Letter.  We began as an idea patterned after a county-wide group in Sonoma County, north of San Francisco. Sonoma County Mobilehome Owners Association (SCMOA) has been active for over 17 years. Their past president, Elaine Hostetter, was instrumental in the formation of our county wide group, CoMO-LAC and we are grateful for her contribution. November 15, 2004 the Articles of Incorporation were filed with the Secretary of State. We wanted to expand our services to all of California. Our idea was to have county groups form, such as CoMO-Sacramento, CoMO-Ventura and so forth with their own local boards. All would be under the umbrella of CoMO-CAL. On March 1, 2006 a tally of ballots sent in by members of CoMO-LAC showed almost all members to be in favor of expanding statewide as CoMO-CAL.  Today, CoMO-CAL is a non-profit, public benefit corporation whose specific purpose is to promote the general welfare of manufactured / mobilehome owners in the State of California. We have members in over 400 mobile home parks. We continue to identify other, smaller groups, who are active in their own communities.
