In 2008, the residents of Orchard Grove, a mobile home park in Boulder, Colorado, tried to purchase the land their homes rest on from its current owner. Despite the fact that the park was already for sale, the absentee landlord refused to negotiate with the residents. Instead, the owner, Lu Nuttal Jr., raised rents by 40% in one year in an apparent attempt to force the residents out. Fearing retaliation, some asked friends to speak for them. Others bravely spoke out themselves. These are some of their stories.
